Once cleaned, aluminium casings pass through an automated steel shot-blast process before undergoing a secondary hot detergent wash to remove residual dust. We’re not aware of any other rebuilder who reduces the casing to its base metal, but we believe it’s important from a critical inspection point of view. More than that, it gives our engineers pride in what they produce.
Following these initial wash stages the critical inspection process begins for damage or cracks, together with all the other parts of the transmission, in case further repairs are required.
A preparation/reparation stage follows where thread repairs, gasket surface cleaning and welding/machining take place before a third, and final, high pressure detergent hotwash is carried out.
